Fernie Chamber announces in-person AGM event for Thursday 21 April
The Fernie Chamber of Commerce has announced details of their 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM). The event will return to an in-person format on Thursday 21 April at the Cast Iron Grill at the Fernie Golf Club. The Fernie Chamber will be celebrating its 120th year of incorporation, having been established as the Fernie Board of Trade in 1902.
The AGM will be a breakfast event with registrations and networking from 8:00am and the AGM itself commencing at 9:00am. The formal part of the AGM will be followed by a Fernie Housing Forum featuring presenters and a Q&A with the membership. More details on the Housing Forum will be released in the coming weeks. Tickets for the event are on sale now at the Fernie Chamber website (www.ferniechamber.com) and will be $25 for members in good standing, and $35 for future members and the general public. Registration fee includes a full hot breakfast at the Cast Iron Grill. Tickets must be secured prior to April 14thdue to limited capacity.
Brad Parsell (Executive Director of the Fernie Chamber) explains, “We are so excited to finally return to a major in-person event with our membership at this year’s AGM. Networking with fellow businesspeople in the area has been sorely missed and we’re so excited to see everyone. We’ve also heard loud and clear from the business community that lack of attainable housing for workers is a major concern, and we look forward to releasing more details on the housing forum that will form part of the AGM event.” One of the formal agenda items at the AGM will be the election of new board directors. There are seven of the twelve board seats up for election this year. Nominations to join the board of directors are now open via the application package on the Fernie Chamber website. Representatives from member businesses and organizations in good standing are encouraged to put themselves forward to represent
Fernie’s vibrant business community. Nominations to join the board close a week before the AGM on Thursday 14 April.
