Griz Days is drawing closer, with the first Griz Pin for this year’s coming festival presented to Fernie
Mayor Nic Milligan.
The 46th year of the popular weekend of events is accompanied by yet another fundraising drive by the
Fernie Rotary Club with the collectable Griz Pins on sale from February 6.
“I think it’s amazing a community celebration has been going on for almost half a century,” said Ev Cutts
of the Fernie Rotary Club.
“It’s had many renditions over the years from its inception to now, and Rotary is happy to have played a
part in it for the last many years.”
Money raised from the annual sale of Griz Pins goes back into the community either as winnings or
donations, with this year’s beneficiaries being the Fernie Food Bank, and the Elk River Alliance.
Pins are available to purchase at these locations around Fernie: TD Bank, Scotia Bank, Save On Foods,
Big Bang Bagels, Fernie Mountain Spirits, FBC, Fernie Distillers, Drift and Sonder, Fernie Rotarians,
Fernie Chamber of Commerce and Canadian Tire. They’re on sale for $3 each, and there’s only 4,000
available, so get yours quick!
The owner of the winning pin drawn on March 8 will have a very happy Griz Days, and walk away with a
$1,000 cash prize.
Griz Days this year will be from March 3 to 5.
