Like most things in 2020, the Fernie Chamber’s annual Business Excellence Awards will be looking a little different as we shift this event to a safe format. We recognize that now more than ever it is important to celebrate the hardworking, creative, and resilient business community we have in Fernie. Our top priority is to create a time of celebration and fun that supports our community and our local businesses, despite the ongoing challenges of the pandemic. On Friday 23 October we will be streaming the awards ceremony to celebrate safely from a distance as a community! This event will include a local at home celebration kit for purchase, a streamed viewing of the award presentations on Zoom, a best gala attire contest, and more.
Nominations for the various award categories are now OPEN! The nomination period will run from August 19 to September 7 at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/2020businessawards or follow the link at the Fernie Chamber Facebook page.
How it works:
Anyone can nominate a business or individual for any award they feel meets the criteria outlined on the online nomination survey. All nominees from business categories will then be contacted once the nomination period closes and asked to submit an awards package that will be used by the judges to determine the finalists and winners This form will be reviewed by an independent panel of judges from outside the Fernie area. Based on the information and details provided by the business, the judges will rate the businesses against the award criteria. Highest rated business will win. Exceptions to this process are Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and the Chamber Legacy Award – which are all judged by the Fernie Chamber board of directors. Businesses and organizations nominated in all categories will be on the ballot for the People’s Choice award that the public will vote on in September.
Stay tuned for further announcements about this celebration of Fernie’s amazing local business community.
