Fernie Chamber partners with Women’s Enterprise Centre to offer HR webinar series
The Fernie Chamber of Commerce is excited to be partnering with the Women’s Enterprise Centre to
offer our local businesses the opportunity to improve their human resources skills. This topic is of
interest to many members based on data collected from the monthly Fernie Business Pulse Checks
conducted by the Fernie Chamber. This is also very timely given the extreme staffing challenges
businesses are facing. Hiring and retaining good staff by creating an attractive work environment are
more important than ever with the number of jobs on the market.
Fernie Chamber Executive Director Brad Parsell explains, “With the extreme labour shortage challenges
facing our businesses right now, it is critical that businesses position themselves as an attractive place to
work. This helps immensely with staff recruitment and retention. Having a great team of people that
have meaningful work, enjoy their roles and project a positive culture of your brand is just as important
as the wage you offer in this competitive environment.”
The three-part series starts on Wednesday 8 September and runs every week through to Wednesday 22
September. This is a free webinar for Fernie Chamber members, and available for future chamber
members for as little as $9.00 per session.
Below are the topics that will be covered in each session:
• September 8 | Recruiting 101: Tools to Find the Right Person for Your Team
• September 15 | Employee Retention Toolkit for Business Owners
• September 22 | Managing HR: Tools to Unite Your Team
All sessions are from 11:00am to 12:00pm (Mountain) and include downloadable workbooks to help you
build a toolkit that works for your business. Recordings will be available for 30 days following each
session. Register for one session or all three at www.ferniechamber.com
