2026 B.C. Provincial General Election

The Province of British Columbia has called for a provincial general election.

The Fernie Chamber of Commerce has traditionally hosted All-Candidates Forums, however, due to the timeframe between the call of the 2026 provincial election and the 2026 municipal election in Fernie, we will not be hosting an All-Candidates Forum for the 2026 provincial election.

We encourage our members, local businesses and community members to learn more about the election, the candidates and the voting process ahead of October 24.

Key Election Dates

Advance Voting: October 16–21, 2026

Deadline to request a Vote-by-Mail package online or by phone: October 18, 2026

Final Voting Day: October 24, 2026

Who Can Vote?

You can vote in the 2026 B.C. provincial election if you are:

  • A Canadian citizen;
  • 18 years of age or older on October 24, 2026; and
  • A resident of B.C. since April 23, 2026.

Voters will elect 93 Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs). Each MLA represents an electoral district, also known as a riding, and serves in B.C.’s provincial Legislature.

Where to Vote

Elections BC will mail Where to Vote cards to registered voters before advance voting begins on October 16. Your card will include information about your assigned voting place on Final Voting Day, as well as advance voting options in your electoral district.

You can use your Where to Vote card as one of two pieces of accepted voter identification, but you do not need your card to vote.

Once voting locations for Fernie are confirmed, the Chamber will update this page with the relevant information.

Vote by Mail

If you are unable to vote in person, you can request a Vote-by-Mail package from Elections BC. Information about requesting a package will be added to this page once available from Elections BC.

Candidates

You can find a current list of candidates here.

Candidates endorsed by registered political parties will have the party listed next to their name on the ballot. Candidates may also choose to run as unaffiliated, with no party listed next to their name, or as an independent, with the word “Independent” listed next to their name.

We encourage everyone who is eligible to vote to take the time to learn about the election and make a plan to participate.
